Survivors of Abuse

Therapy for Survivors of Abuse

Surviving abuse can shape the way you see yourself, others, and the world around you. Whether the abuse happened in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood, the effects can continue long after the experiences have ended. I specialize in working with adult survivors of abuse and have extensive experience helping clients process trauma, rebuild a sense of safety, and move toward healing.

My work includes supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, emotional abuse, and childhood neglect. Many survivors carry experiences of fear, shame, hypervigilance, difficulty trusting others, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, or feeling disconnected from themselves. These responses often develop as ways of surviving these experiences.

Using a trauma-focused, person-centered approach, I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process traumatic memories and reduce the emotional intensity attached to them. One of the benefits of EMDR is that clients do not have to relive or describe every detail of painful experiences out loud in order to experience meaningful change.

With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I provide a compassionate, collaborative space where healing happens at your pace. Recovery from abuse is not about forgetting what happened—it is about helping the past feel less overwhelming so you can move forward with greater confidence, connection, and peace.
