Survivors of Violent Crimes

Therapy for Survivors of Violent Crime

Experiencing a violent crime can change the way you see yourself, other people, and the world around you. Even long after the event is over, survivors may continue to experience anxiety, hypervigilance, intrusive memories, nightmares, fear, difficulty trusting others, or symptoms of PTSD.

I specialize in working with adult survivors of violent crime and have spent many years helping individuals recover from the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic experiences. This includes survivors impacted by events such as homicide and loss due to violence, carjackings, armed robberies, physical assaults, aggravated attacks, community violence, home invasions, and other violent or life-threatening experiences.

My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and designed to help clients feel safe and empowered throughout the healing process. As an EMDR Certified therapist, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients process traumatic memories in a way that does not require reliving every detail out loud.

EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they become less emotionally overwhelming and disruptive in daily life. Treatment is paced thoughtfully and collaboratively, allowing clients to remain in control while reducing trauma symptoms and strengthening a sense of safety and resilience.

Whether the event happened recently or years ago, healing is possible. My goal is to provide a supportive space where survivors can process trauma, regain confidence, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with greater peace and stability.
